Celebrating ONE MONTH of being HOME!

A month full of relief, gratitude and creative ideas!

A month of discovering the land- dedicating morning walks to get to know different spots and the energy they hold, trimming high grass (thanks to Jon and the neighbor’s sheep) and finding old rock walls and nooks, the boys naming a spot “rochers magiques” where they enjoy diving into their imagination and independence, sunrises and sunsets, plants, trees, insects, flowers, full moon showers, old bottles/nails/wires, dirt and more dirt :)

A month of budgeting, prioritizing things that need to get done sooner than others, looking at beautiful tiles, gardening and home improvement store visits, finding little gems in the nearby village (like the bread shop that has no sign and you’d never know was there) thanks to our neighbors.

Speaking of neighbors, a month of being blown away by ours! We’ve been embraced and welcomed in a way we could have only dreamed of. We have so much to learn from them and, like most of the other Portuguese people we’ve met, they are such good people to the core and always want to help. Thanks to them, we’ve had a month of tractors, quad rides, puppies (one of which we’ll get next month!), goat milk and cheese, bags of citrus, a generator when our power stopped, and help putting a tarp on the roof.

A month of unexpected issues with the house. A water pump that would only pump from our well for about 5 mins and stop ( cue budgeting for a new water system/reservoir etc that should be here in a few weeks), a roof infested with bird nests and in turn, bird nest mites inside making us itch, not be able to sleep very well, and getting tons of little bites (hence the tarp on the roof to stop the birds from nesting there), and electricity that went out for a few days.

A month with our first live concert and learning the Portuguese language and culture.

A month full of heart. A month that helped us release some deep tension from our nervous systems. A month of being in awe that we are here and for what we can build✨

Gratitude for what has been, what is and what will come🙏🏼

Thanks for following along as we’re on this journey!
